Bacon-themed 5K, ‘Inflatable Race’ and more 2019 fun runs

While many Central Florida fun runs are getting their 2019 races lines up — the Color Run is coming, but there is no firm informatio­n yet — there are already a bevy of options for those looking for 2019 races that are less about competitio­n and more geared toward amusement.

The Great American Bacon Race

What: This bacon-themed 5K run/walk takes place in a beautiful park — with unlimited bacon served to participan­ts along the way. All runners will receive medals and T-shirts.

When: 9 a.m. 5K run with awards, 9:15 a.m. 5K “fun” heat and 10:30 a.m. 1K Kids Bacon Dash on Jan. 19

Where: Bill Frederick Park, 3401 S. Hiawassee Road in Orlando

Packet pickup: On race day Cost: Registrati­on is $35 (plus fees) for the 5Ks through Jan. 6 and the price increases after that date. The 1K costs $20 (plus fees) through 9 a.m. Jan. 19.

Cupid’s Undie Run

What: This one-mile race encourages participan­ts to run in their undies — but to also “keep it PG-13.” The event raises money for neurofibro­matosis research. Registrant­s can earn prizes based on how much they fundraise. When: 12-4 p.m. Feb. 9 Where: Elixir, 9 W. Washington St. in Orlando

Quack Attack on Poverty

What: During this sixth annual run, participan­ts race through a course featuring bubble, squirt gun and quack zones while wearing duck-shaped pool floats. All runners will receive T-shirts, an inflatable float, finisher medal, entry in the Chuck-A-Duck contest and refreshmen­ts. The 5K raises funds and awareness for United Against Poverty.

When: 8 a.m. Feb. 16

Where: Harbor Park at Baldwin Park, 4990 New Broad St. in Orlando on race

The Super Run

What: Caped crusaders make their way through Blue Jacket Park during this superherot­hemed 5K. All runners will receive a finisher medal and superhero cape. The 5K’s partner charities include The Gift of Life, American Associatio­n for Cancer Research Foundation, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, Fleece & Thank You, OAR Run for Autism and Superfly Children’s Foundation.

When: 8-11 a.m. Feb. 23 Where: Blue Jacket Park, 2501 General Rees Ave. in Orlando

Milk Run

What: This annual off-road 5K takes participan­ts on a course through the former T.G. Lee Dairy property and a working cattle ranch. It’s open to ages 8 and up. Proceeds benefit Orange County Extension Educationa­l programs. When: 7:30-9:30 a.m. March 2 Where: UF/IFAS Extension Orange County, 6021 S. Conway Road in Orlando

Born To Be A Unicorn

What: Runners runsignup.com transform into mythical and magical creatures for these fun races. Participan­ts will receive race swag (a unicorn mask or headband), a finisher medal and refreshmen­ts.

The Great Inflatable Race

What: Race through inflatable obstacles during this fun run. Participan­ts get a T-shirt, wristband, temporary tattoo and medal. The race supports G. Club USA.

Pig Run of Lake Nona

What: Pig out during this 5K where runners eat 0, 1, 3, 6 or a dozen glazed doughnuts at the race’s halfway point, the “Pig Pen.” All participan­ts receive a shirt, finisher medal, doughnuts and pig snout. All proceeds benefit Nemours Children’s Hospital’s “Child Life” program and Camp Boggy Creek.

When: 9 a.m. on April 20 Where: Lake Nona YMCA, 9055 Northlake Parkway in Orlando

Night Nation Run

What: On the course, find multiple party zones with live DJs, dancers, light shows, selfie stations and giveaways. After you cross the finish line, enjoy a dance party with multiple DJs, lights, fog, confetti guns and giveaways. The run supports Stand Up To Cancer.

When: The gates open at 5:30 p.m., pre-party starts at 6:30 p.m. and waves begin at 8 p.m. on Sept. 7.
