CORRY, HENRY EDMUND, JR “NED”, age 94, formerly of Orlando, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018, in Vero Beach. A native of Quincy, FL, Ned was born on May 31, 1924, and was the first child of the late Henry Edmund and Alice Steed Corry. His paternal grandfathe­r, William Merrill Corry and his father grew and processed shade tobacco in Quincy from 1889 to 1959. His maternal grandparen­ts were William Archy Steed and Willa Merrie Morgan. Ned was the husband of Carol (Valigura) Corry to whom he was married for 40 years. He attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina until called into service in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he rose to the rank and retired as Lieutenant Commander while serving as an aviator pilot. After his military service, he attended Florida State University and then spent his civilian years employed as both a commercial and private corporate pilot eventually retiring from A. Duda and Sons of Oviedo, FL.

Loved and respected by all who met him, Ned was a true southern gentleman who was endeared by many for his subtle sense of humor and sharp wit. In addition to his love of flying airplanes, he also shared many other passions with his wife, such as offshore sailing; salt-water fishing; riding Honda Gold Wings throughout the U.S.; adventurin­g on cross country RV trips; constructi­ng his own greenhouse and raising orchids; and most recently growing and caring for various kinds of fruit trees. Ned also loved all things techy and was quite proficient for someone of his era, always owning the latest and greatest phones, computers, and gadgets. Those who knew him best would say that his greatest loves of all were his wife, Carol, his faithful furry companions, and anything and everything chocolate.

He is predecease­d by his daughter, Alice “Sherron” Corry and his sister, Sara “Skippy” Maguire of Orlando. In addition to his wife, Carol and his beloved Jack Russell’s, Jeannie and Pumpkin, he is survived by his daughter, Margaret Emily “Muffy” Corry of Apopka; his son, Cary Edmund “Neddy” Corry of Granite Bay, CA; two step-daughters, Wendy Kennedy (Ron) of Spokane, WA; Pamela Smith (Steve) of Oviedo, FL; seven grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Crook (Lauren) of Tampa, FL; Shana Rademaker (Reed) of Portland, OR; Patrick Crook (Ana) of San Diego; Derek Corry (Michelle) of Phoenix, AZ; Ryan Corry of Dallas, TX; Danielle Corry of San Diego, CA; Christine Corry of Granite Bay, CA; five step-grandchild­ren, Kirk, Corrie, Troy, Christina and Lindsay; seven great grand-children; and several loving nieces and nephews along with their children.
