Sanford man accused of stalking taken into custody, deputies say
The man who deputies say has been stalking and making unwanted sexual comments to women was taken into custody in Sanford on Friday night, according to the Volusia County Sherrif ’s Office.
Walter Hernandez, 62, of Boulder Court in Sanford, was arrested during a traffic stop on a stalking charge, according to VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant. Detectives were looking for Hernandez after multiple reports of a man approaching women and making sexually suggestive comments, Gant said in a news release.
On Wednesday, the Sanford Police Department posted a picture of Hernandez on Facebook and asked for the public’s help in identifying him.
According to the post, Hernandez was wanted for reportedly stalking and
making sexually suggestive comments to a female victim on Monday night in Sanford and in another incident in Orange City.
