Climate change is drastic

-

Regarding Rob Brixey’s letter “Climate change isn’t WWII” (Feb. 15): Seems like Rob’s opinion is basically a rant against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which in Trump World is the thing to do. I don’t know how old Rob is, and his letter covers a lot of valid World War II information, but he should know that World War II was actually a political event as well. You had Hitler, the “Prince of Darkness”, with the political ambition to control the world and all its people.

There is a lot of truth in what OcasioCortez says that climate change is like World War II, but nay, climate change is more like World War III. If smart human beings do not “get on the stick” about what is obviously happening, man’s inhumanity to the planet, it just might be as bad as Hitler ruling the world!

Human beings — that is, the activities of human beings — are drastically changing things. If someone went to sleep in Orlando in, say, 1958, but then woke up in 2018, that person would say, “I must be in hell.” The god-awful disaster going right through the middle of town, the “ultimate I-4,” must be purgatory. We won’t even mention what has happened to our lakes, creeks, rivers, springs, estuaries, beaches and land. One must conclude that all the “stuff ” we are pumping into the atmosphere is just as bad. You mess up the atmosphere, you cause global warming. It used to be one could lay out in your backyard right here in town, gaze into the sky and see a trillion stars. What the hell happened?
