Bicyclist killed in crash along State Road 520

A bicyclist was struck and killed in a crash along State Road 520 in Brevard County on Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The victim, a 62-year-old Cocoa man, was trying to cross the state road near the Lincoln Road intersection at about 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by an SUV traveling east on SR 520, troopers said.

The driver, Shaffin Henderson, 43, of Cocoa, was not injured in the crash, according to an incident report.

The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne and later passed away, the report states. Troopers were notified of the victim’s passing on Saturday afternoon.

No other information was available. The crash remains under investigation.
