Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill captures ingredients at their best
Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is more than a refresh of the celebrity chef ’s previous iteration of his Disney Springs eatery, Wolfgang Puck Grand Café. The new restaurant serves a more elegant offering of the chef ’s California-inspired atmosphere — and cuisine with a Mediterranean flavor. What I would try a second time
Vibrant, juicy chunks of tomato were bathed in a fresh pesto aioli and mozzarella for the restaurant’s take on bruschetta ($14). The toasted hunks of ciabatta bread carrying this mix deliciously soaked up the sauces and juices. What I didn’t like
The restaurant emphasizes its pizza with a beautiful wood-burning pizza oven surrounded by its own bar top — perfect for wiling some time away watching pizzas cook. That might be the best thing coming out of that oven, however. Our pepperoni pie ($19) was a chewy pool of grease. What I would put on Instagram
Reminiscent of a barn — think sweeping ceilings carried by rustic beams — the eatery itself is a nice backdrop. Food-wise, the bruschetta made for a lovely photo.
Other eats
The wood-grilled whole shrimp were succulent and tasty — and even better when paired with the accompanying white bean ragu. Calabrian peppers gave the ragu a spice that tickled the back of your throat.
Our server talked me into the whole grilled sea
bass ($41), and I’m glad he did. The meat of the boneless fish was fairly mild, helped by the peperonata, a mix of diced olives, onions and peppers. The texture, however was buttery and rich.
A fairly standard array of sweets — Key lime pie, carrot cake, etc — make up the dessert offerings. We opted to visit the attached gelato bar, however, and take our treats on a walk around Disney Springs.
How I was treated
Despite our distracted server being absent for parts of our meal, our food was delivered to our table at a regular clip.
My next visit
I’m curious about the restaurant’s namesake burger, which comes with white cheddar cheese, red onion marmalade and garlic aioli.
For bar-hoppers
Wine is the star on Wolfgang Puck’s drink menu, but there’s also a good selection of craft beers and creative cocktails.
For those with special diets
Gluten- and dairy-free dishes are available — just ask your server. Vegetarian diners can find a handful of appetizers and pizzas to dine on as is. Vegan diners will need a bit more editing of the menu to dine at the restaurant.
