With win, Nuggets claim division title

Nikola Jokic scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, Paul Millsap finished with 25 points, and the Nuggets clinched the Northwest Division title with a 119-110 win over the Trail Blazers on Friday night in Denver.

Jokic added 13 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Nuggets to their first division title in six years. Jamal Murray scored 23 points and Torrey Craig had 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Nuggets are assured of at least the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and can clinch the second seed with two more wins. They lead the Rockets by 11⁄2 games and have played one fewer game.

The Nuggets clinched their first Northwest Division title since 2012-13, when they won 40 of its final 50 games to finish 57-25 but were upset in the first round of the playoffs.

■ All-Star forward Giannis Antetokoun­mpo sat out the Bucks’ 133-128 loss to the Nets on Saturday because of an injured left calf. Coach Mike Budenholze­r said Antetokoun­mpo was “kicked or hit” in the calf during the Bucks’ win over the 76ers on Thursday. The Bucks already have clinched the best record in the NBA and the top seed in the Eastern Conference. ... Stephen Curry scored 40 points to lift the Westleadin­g and two-time defending league champion Warriors to a 120-114 win over the Cavaliers on Friday night. The two-time league MVP moved into third on the Warriors’ scoring list. With 16,283 points Curry trails only Wilt Chamberlai­n (17,783) and Rick Barry (16,447).
