James David Bailey passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2019 at the age of 98.Born in Albion, New York on November 27, 1920. He is predecease­d by his parents Lewis A Bailey and Bernice Kilner, his half-brother Robert Root and his wife of 68 years Helen McGuire. He is survived by his 4 children Paul, Mark, and Tim Bailey and Kathy Heath and 7 grandchild­ren, and 13 great grandchild­ren.As a child Jim was active in Boy Scouting and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Syracuse University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. During WW 2 he joined the Navy where he served as a signalman attaining the rank of Signalman First Class. In 1945 Jim married his childhood friend and sweetheart Helen McGuire. After the war he and his wife settled in Miami, Florida. Jim became a salesman starting out at Eastern Airlines, then National Distillers and finally Equitable Life where he became a District Manager. During this time he was active in the Miami chapter of the Life Underwrite­rs Associatio­n where he served as its President . He was also President of Kiwanis Club. He also earned distinctio­n as a Charter Life Underwrite­r and as a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. In 1962 Jim was hired by Lincoln National Life as its General Agent in Orlando , so he and his family moved to Maitland. In 1973, Jim and Helen moved to Wekiwa Springs. There, they were members of Annunciati­on Parish and Rolling Hills Golf Course. As a golfer Jim succeeded in getting 6 hole in ones. After golf he took up woodworkin­g. He was still working in his “shop” the week before he passed away. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 AM on Monday June 17 at the Annunciati­on Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs. A visitation will be held in the Church beginning at 9:30 AM that day
