A driver was arrested Friday night after passing a road closure and crashing into a patrol car stationed at the scene of a fatal crash near Orlando, Florida Highway Patrol said on Saturday.

Colter Anderson, 31 of Merritt Island, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence following the crash after troopers found his blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said in a statement.

The arrest came hours after troopers began investigating a crash that killed two people.

According to an affidavit, Andersen T-boned the passenger side amarked patrol car blocking the road. No injuries were reported.

Troopers said they found “open containers of vodka” inside Anderson’s car. And along with failing the breathalyzer, Anderson failed multiple sobriety exercises, the affidavit said.

Hours earlier, troopers responded to a triple crash on Hoffner Avenue and Conway Road near south Orlando that killed two people.

Witnesses told authorities that around 5:50 p.m. Friday, a driver traveling in the westbound lane lost control of his car and slammed head-on into a car traveling in the opposite lanes, according to an FHP crash report.

The driver and his passenger — who were 24 and 39, respectively — were ejected from the car and died at the scene. The 50-year-old man driving the other car survived with minor injuries along with a 50-year-old woman driving an SUV that was hit by the second car.

The names of the victims and the makes and models of the vehicles were not released in the FHP crash report.
