Lake Brantley held off a spirited rally by Evans to come away with a 34-32 football road win on Friday and advance to this week’s FHSAA Class 8A region quarterfinal round.

Noah Hudak put the Patriots (6-3) in front 34-20 with under 10 minutes to go when he scored his second rushing touchdown of the night. Evans (2-5), playing at home, stormed back late in the fourth quarter as D.J. Boney and Alonzo Allen connected on a 15-yard TD pass and Brandon Jacob returned a fumble 70yards for a score.

The two-point conversion attempts failed each time for the Trojans and those stops proved to be crucial for Lake Brantley, whichdefeatedEvans 55-26 in a regular season meeting twoweeks ago.

“It’s tough [to play a team twice in two weeks] and they’ve got good football players,” said Lake Brantley coach David Delfiacco. “They limited their mistakes [tonight] and they played solid.”

The Patriots, ranked No. 14 in the Sentinel Super 16, plays at No. 16 Lake Mary (6-2) in another rematch on Friday. The Rams rallied to defeat LakeBrantley15-14 in the season-opener for both teams on Sept. 17.

“The offense, the last five weeks, we’ve just been on a roll,” said Delfiacco. “We’re playing real well up front andwe’removing people off the football— and that’s the key to our offense.”

Hudak led thePatriots on Friday with more than 200 yards rushing. Senior running back Anthony Williams, a UCF commit, also scored twice while surpassing 100 yards.

No. 3 Dr. Phillips (5-2) saw its streak of first round playoff victories end Saturday with 10-0 loss to Miami Palmetto (3-1) in 8A. The Panthers had won 14 consecutive playoff openers. Mobley connected on a 56-yarder to Christian Leary and a 40-yarder to Tommi Hill to make it a 40-7 ballgame in the fourth quarter. Mobley threw three touchdowns passes and rushed for two more scores.

“He’s really finding his rhythm,” Edgewater coach Cameron Duke said of Mobley. “He missed the whole summer, no 7-on-7, no off-season or spring. So as a quarterback he’s just now finding his groove, and it’s really good.”

It’s a huge, huge challenge. We’re going to go out and work hard on Friday night and see what we can do.”
