Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips is expected to open this August in Orlando’s Icon Park.

The fast-casual eatery is the first location of the restaurant outside of Las Vegas, where it launched in 2016. Beyond fish and chips, the menu includes gulf shrimp with basil and lavender salt as well as milkshakes that include a sticky toffee pudding.

Ramsay is known for his work on television, including Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and “MasterChef.”

“Orlando is such a great foodie spot, and I’m really excited we’re starting with Fish & Chips,” Ramsay said in an emailed response to questions from the Orlando Sentinel. “Orlando could very well be home to many more of our exciting concepts.”

Icon Park is at 8375 International Drive and features attractions such as the 400-foot tall Wheel at Icon Park and the Orlando StarFlyer swing ride.

Ramsay said the restaurant’s namesake dish was part of his upbringing.

“We didn’t have a lot of extra growing up, but when Mum could scrape together enough for a bag of fish & chips to go from the local chippy — those memories are still so relevant,” Ramsay said. “This restaurant has become a sort of ode to my Mum and how hard she worked to give us the best she could.”

When asked about his involvement in the Orlando restaurant, Ramsay said, “a good leader is only as good as his team, and mine is amazing. “You may not see me, but trust me, when I’m not in the kitchen or on set, I’m on the phone calling my teams around the world to check in to see what’s selling, what’s not, what’s working and sharing new ideas,” he said.

The Icon Park restaurant will seat more than 30 customers and have outdoor patio seating. It will have more than 30 employees, and those interested in applying can email their resume to jobs@grna.com.

Regal movie theaters back in business

Regal Cinemas is opening back up movie theaters, with one at Pointe Orlando and another in Kissimmee becoming the latest to show movies again.

The theaters are at Pointe Orlando, 9101 International Drive, and at The Loop, 3232 N. John Young Parkway in Kissimmee.

Regal shut down theaters across the country in October because of a lack of new films being released during the coronavirus pandemic.

It has since reopened theaters in Winter Park and Waterford Lakes. Other Orlando-area locations of the chain are in Oviedo and Apopka.

Movies at the reopened theaters will include “Mortal Kombat” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
