Kathleen “Ginger” Long passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the age of 90.

Ginger was born Kathleen Nell Hendricks on December 21, 1929 in Bolivar, PA to Ralph and Hazel (Treasure) Hendricks. She married Richard Melville Long in 1949, and they had three children, Ralph Long (wife, Helen Ross), Robert Long (wife, Barbara Rice (husband, Thomas,

Ginger was well loved by many and especially her gardening organizations in the Orlando area including Robinswood and Orlando Garden Clubs; Azalea, LakeSilver, and Tangerine Circles; and Wildflower Club. She was extremely knowledgeable about local plants and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with others. Ginger held every position in the Orlando GC and held the Treasurer’s position for over 20 years. Along with several awards that included Hall of Fame and Pillar of Pride, Ginger received life-memberships in the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, and Orlando Garden Club.

Her other life joys included birding, which she shared with her sisters and children, and counted-cross stitch which many, many people received as beautiful gifts. Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her sister, Jeane Treasure Hendricks. She is survived by her children, Ralph, Robert and Barbara, and her sister, Alice Rehn (nee Hendricks).

A public memorial is not planned, but every day in our hearts. we honor her
