Sorokin, Islanders tie up series with Pens

Ilya Sorokin stopped 29 shots, Oliver Wahlstrom and Ryan Pulock each had a goal and an assist and the Islanders beat the Penguins 4-1 in Game 4 Saturday to even the firstround series.

Josh Bailey and Jordan Eberle also scored for the Islanders. Sorokin, who had 39 saves in the Islanders’ 4-3 win in Game 1, was back in goal after Semyon Varlamov started Games 2 and 3 — both losses.

Tristan Jarry had 23 saves for Pittsburgh, and drew mocking chants of “Jar-ry! Jar-ry!” from Islanders fans.

Game 5 is Monday night in Pittsburgh, and Game 6 back at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday.

Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal was fined $5,000 Saturday for what the NHL called a dangerous trip on Predators’ Luke Kunin. The fine is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. It was announced hours after the Predators beat the Hurricanes 5-4 in double overtime Friday night to pull within 2-1 of the Hurricanes in their first-round series.

Golf: Wei-Ling Hsu birdied the final hole Saturday for a 6-under 65 and a share of the third-round lead with Moriya Jutanugarn in the LPGA Tour’s Pure Silk Championsh­ip. Jutanugarn was able to eagle the par-5 seventh in a 65 to match Hsu at 10-under 203 on Kingsmill Resort’s firm and fast River Course.
