Pine Castle Woman’s Club Third Annual Black History Celebratio­n:

Normally held the third weekend of February, this year’s event will take place today at 1:30 p.m. today. Featured speaker will be retired Judge Belvin Perry, Jr., Esq. Also participat­ing in the program will be Rev. Otha Harlan, Pastor, Living by the Bible Community Church and Janice Harlan, lead gospel singer. Juneteenth Celebratio­n - Knowing, Rememberin­g And Shifting The Narrative:

Hosted by the Hannibal Square Heritage Center, Winter Park Public Library, and the City of Winter Park Parks and Recreation Department. The observance will feature guest speakers on the history of Juneteenth along with community conversati­ons on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Hannibal Square Heritage Center permanent and visiting galleries will feature “Preserving The Past And Looking Toward The Future: A Celebratio­n of Hannibal Square” from 2-4 p.m. (with guided tours every 30 minutes). This exhibition depicts the contributi­ons of Winter Park’s African American community from 1900—present, rememberin­g, acknowledg­ing, and preserving historic Hannibal Square’s legacy. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 19, Winter Park Community Center, 721 W. Third Annual Phrozen Jewel 5K/10K Run or Walk:

This race is virtual, so you can choose a safe environmen­t to complete the 5K or 10k distance. You will have one week (June 19-26) to submit your most competitiv­e time. All participan­ts will receive a T-shirt, medal, and registrati­on bag. Prizes will be given to the top three men and women overall and the top man and woman in each age group. All proceeds benefit the Hankins Johnson Education Foundation’s Young Men of Distinctio­n mentoring program. Cost is $20-$60. Call 407-453-4279 to register.

Orange Audubon Society:

OAS will celebrate the end of its season by showing entries in the 33rd Annual Kit and Sidney Chertok Florida Native Nature Photograph­y Contest on YouTube Live. At the program’s conclusion, winners in the Youth, Novice and Advanced Amateur/Profession­al categories will be announced and more than $1,300 in ribbons, cash and other prizes will be awarded. 26th annual 4th of July Celebratio­n:

The event has been modified to allow for safe social distancing; although no longer mandated by the state, festive masks are encouraged for the protection of yourself and others.
