Unique Entrelagos estate hits the market for $25M
The massive 14,706-square-foot Entrelagos mansion on a secluded peninsula in Windermere is on the market for the first time, according to a report in GrowthSpotter.
The homeowner, who lives in Hong Kong, is selling the house and its 2.44 acres for $25 million, SVN | Saunders Real Estate senior advisor Richard Dempsey told GrowthSpotter. Created with interior features handcrafted by Filipino artisans and shipped to the U.S., the home was completed in 1999 after nearly 10 years and $8 million.
The list price makes it the most expensive single-family home listing in the Orlando market, much higher even than Shaquille O’Neal’s mansion priced at $16.5 million.
Owned under Entrelagos Holdings Corp., Virginia Dio and her now-deceased husband — both from the Philippines — built the home in the gated community of Point Cypress. A daughter manages the property from Florida, Dempsey said.
With views of both Lake Sheen and Lake Tibet, the sprawling property “is like nothing I’ve ever seen,” said Dempsey, who has 20-plus years in the real estate industry.
In addition to the views from balconies in each of the 12 bedrooms in the three-story home, Entrelagos has just as much to see inside.
All the doors are handmade and inlaid with mother of pearl and leaded glass, Dempsey said. The front entryway is a large area that has mosaic tile created as a map of the Filipino archipelago. A large star on the floor marks Luzon Island, where the Dios are from.
Extensive and intricate woodworking adorns the columns throughout the home. Even the crown molding is hand-carved with a different theme in every room, Dempsey said.
In the 30-foot-by-30-foot 2-story rotunda library, the columns have masterworks carved into them. “It looks like you can just pick them up from the columns and read.”
Also in the master bedroom are an intricate custom-made fireplace, an en-suite that includes a jacuzzi tub, and a kitchenette with a wet bar and coffee station, Dempsey said.
Outside, columns supporting the portico at the entrance were constructed using handhewn coquina rock, which is composed wholly or almost entirely of sandsized fossil debris.
Disney-area hotel sells again
The 197-room Comfort Inn Maingaite on Kissimmee’s W192 tourism corridor has sold for the second time in five years.
SLB Hotel Group, led by Alfonso Borrero, had purchased the hotel at 7675 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in 2016 for $8.7 million. The company completed a renovation the previous owner had started that year, earning the distinction of being named a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel.
The upgrades included the addition of family-friendly rooms with bunkbeds, new landscaping, new furniture and decor and a new breakfast area.
“The renovation completion of the Comfort Inn Maingate is a major milestone for us and we are so pleased to welcome guests to come enjoy the enhanced accommodations,” SLB COO Ed Swain said at the time. “Central Florida can be a thrilling experience for families. Comfort Inn Maingate is the ideal refuge to refresh and recharge while creating all those wonderful memories.”
The company sold the hotel last week for $12.75 million. The deal breaks down to $64,720 per room.
The hotel was built in 1983 and sits on 4.6 acres just east of Formosa Gardens. The previous owner, Aziz Visram, split off a 3.2-acre vacant parcel prior to the 2016 sale and sold it to the largest franchiser of WoodSpring Suites in the U.S. in late 2019. Brookwood Hotels just recently completed a new Woodspring Suites extended-stay hotel on the site.
