Love Your Shorts film festival kicks off Feb. 10

- By Amanda Kondolojy

Sanford’s Love Your Shorts Film Festival will return to the Ritz Theater at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center Feb 10-13. The festival will showcase the latest and greatest in short-form content (30 minutes or less) over a fun-filled weekend that will also include a filmmaking panel and an awards ceremony at the close of the show.

Eighty-two films will be showcased over the weekend across almost every genre, including comedy, drama, science fiction, horror and more. Tickets are now available for specific genre “blocks,” of films, including an E for

Everyone family-friendly block. Individual block tickets are priced between $3-$10. Unlimited passes for the full weekend are also available for $75.

A special Florida Flavor block on Saturday is a festival highlight and will feature “films that are shot either by Florida filmmakers or predominantly in Florida” according to festival co-founder and board member Gene Kruckemyer.

DeLand film director Dale Metz, is one such filmmaker who will not only be represented with a film in the Florida Flavor category but also the E for Everyone family-friendly block. Metz said via a release, “This festival helps to set the bar and it is always an honor to be part of the show.”

Among the other can’tmiss blocks this year?

“I think we’re pretty strong in International and Drama this year,” Kruckemyer said, adding that the “Best of the Fest” award was given previously to a filmmaker from France: “It surprises us, people come from all over!”

All films are screened at Ritz Theater at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, which is located at 201 S. Magnolia Ave. in Sanford. To view the full lineup of films, buy tickets or find more information, loveyourshorts.com.
