“Finding Adventure,” hosted by ocean conservationist and thrill-seeker Kinga Philipps is a different kind of travel show, challenging locals to get out of their comfort zone and find adventure right in their own backyards.

This streaming show, which can be found on the free Very Local app, will feature Florida locals in three upcoming episodes.

First up is “A Gamer Plugs into the Outdoors!” which debuts this week on Feb. 15. This episode follows Kalena and Maverick Meyers, a mother and son from Clermont who are looking for fun ways to find real adventure in Central Florida. Next up is “Finally Free to Be Me” which will premiere March 1 and feature local Madison

Wilkins who is looking to discover herself after a cancer diagnosis. Finally, “A Face for Adventure” releases on April 12 and features Floridian Nycid Velasquez who is searching for peace and clarity in nature as a way to help ease the effects of social anxiety.

Philipps was excited to film episodes in Florida, saying, “It’s honestly one of my favorite states for nature. You guys offer so much and it’s so beautiful and it’s one of the most exotic states in the nation.”

So what kinds of adventures did Phillips and the various participants on the show find?

“We took out four-wheelers. We went out on lakes, we did ropes courses. We even did a rage room which is really fun,” Phillipps said, adding that diving with sharks and swimming with manatees were also highlights from the Florida-based episodes.

If viewers feel inspired by what they see on “Finding Adventure,” they can replicate the activities featured on the show. “Part of the fun of the show is that for someone who’s in the region where we filmed all of the activities that we do and all of the outsiders that we go out with, people can look them up and go do exactly the same things that we do,” Phillipps, said, adding, “we’ve basically pre-made an adventure for you if you choose.”

So what does Philipps hope people gain from watching the show? “The point of the show is really to encourage people, to inspire them and also show off how great this country is. And no matter where you are, you can find something to do outside and

stepping outside of your comfort zone can be as simple as going camping or going for a hike. It doesn’t always have to be shark diving.”

Though season one has only just started airing, when asked about the show potentially returning,

Philipps said “We are coming back for season two and we’re gonna have a lot more fun out there!”

“Finding Adventure” is exclusive to the Very Local streaming app, which is available on most streaming platforms including Roku, Amazon Fire TV,

Apple TV and Android TV. New episodes are released Tuesdays.
