Zebra dies at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

A zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge died Thursday morning after it ran fullspeed into a gate.

Guests told WESH 2 News they saw the young zebra run into a gate after it was spooked by two ostriches and saw employees trying to save the animal’s life.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of our Hartmann’s mountain zebra that passed away yesterday, and we ask that you keep our dedicated animal care Cast Members in your thoughts,” a Disney spokesperson said in an email to WESH.

This comes as two new zebras were born in 2021 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in October and Animal Kingdom park in May.
