Use tourist tax for transportation

Explain to me again why we also need a one-cent raise in sales tax to pay for roads and transportation (“Orange County salestax vote tough to swallow,” May 4)? Can’t they use at least some of the tourist tax for road and bus improvements? Maybe cut the sales tax increase to half a cent?
