There are a lot of false ‘patriots’

I need a better spam filter for the emails from the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump. With elections looming, they’re all sending fundraising letters with salutations like, “Greetings Fellow Patriot.” What a loose definition they have of the word “patriot”: Politicians lying about stolen elections, spreading misinformation, peddling conspiracy theories and culture wars, while calling themselves patriots, are scams as old as time.

I’m proud that today, we’re witnessing true patriotism not seen since Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s lend-lease weapons program that helped European countries defend against invading Germans in World War II. Leading the world’s greatest military, Joe Biden has earned the title of patriot and the respect of freedom-loving democracies around the world. He is overseeing diplomacy, military operations, cyber-system teams, communications teams, weapons trainers, logistics teams, defense contractors and covert operations. It’s no small task and the world is grateful that Biden and his patriots have the backs of brave Ukrainians.
