Biden’s got the right idea on subsidizing education
On Friday, the Sentinel published two opposing ideas about education.
Osceola County is offering free tuition for Valencia College or a technical school to this year’s high school graduates (“You get to go to school for free”).
The other idea, expressed by letter writer Jim Mills, calls Joe Biden’s push for college tuition debt forgiveness silliness (“Problems grow worse because of Biden’s liberal policies”).
Biden has proposed free community college, including technical training, for all high school graduates, and college debt forgiveness. He understands that a quality, ubiquitous education is necessary for a thriving democracy. Republicans, such as Gov. DeSantis, are using education as a political football, unconcerned about the damages they are causing.
