Peter Miles Taulbee

Maitland - Peter Miles Taulbee, 87, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022. Pete was born on May 20, 1935 in Fort Banks, MA to William Preston Taulbee and Helen Freeman Taulbee. Pete grew up in Clearwater, FL and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1953. He graduated from University of Florida in 1957, and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Pete married Ann Grimsley of Atlanta, and together they raised 3 children. Pete served 3 years in active duty in the US Air Force and 17 years as a captain in the Air Force Reserve and Georgia Air National Guard. Pete had a 28-year career with Sears, followed by a 15-year ownership of Dulando Automotive & Truck Accessories Distribution. After selling Dulando, Pete retired and began volunteering primarily at Maitland Presbyterian Church, where he and his family have been members for 50 years.

Pete was involved in leadership of youth baseball organizations, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, Frontline Outreach, Maitland Men’s Club, Rolling Hills Golf Club President, and Casselberry Rotary Club President, which honored him with the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Pete loved the game of golf, and began caddying at the age of 12. Many years later, he introduced his 2 sons and 3 grandsons to the game. He was also a lifelong Florida Gator football fan. Pete loved dogs, and enjoyed yard work, traveling, fishing, and watercolor painting.

Pete is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann, children: Laura (Jim) Cassady of Maitland; Bill Taulbee of Orlando; and David (Susan) Taulbee of Additional survivors include 6 grandchildren great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held for Pete on Friday, January 13 at 2pm at Maitland Presbyterian Church, 341 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland, FL 32751.
