Junior rolls her way to bowler of the year

One tough game out of four in the high school bowling state finals wasn’t enough to prevent multi-sport Trinity Prep athlete Amanda Lang from earning the Orlando Sentinel player of the year honor. She had the best local series in district play by 26 pins and was one of only two area girls to average 200 during the regular season.

Two freshmen, two sophomores and five juniors are on an 11-player All-Area list. The other high schools represente­d are Timber Creek, DeLand and East River with two players each; along with players from Cypress Creek, Lake Mary, Trinity Prep, Winter Park and Winter Springs.

Trinity Prep, Jr.

Buzz: Lang is a two-time district champion and a repeat member of the Sentinel AllArea team, She repeated as District 7 champ with 673, the highest local girls three-game series in the postseason. She rolled 782 in the state tournament with 246 and 220 games. Lang averaged 200 in the regular season, with a 255 game and 686 series. A multi-sport athlete, she opened her winter season in basketball with a 13-point game in a Saints victory. She also plays softball.

Winter Springs, Jr.

Buzz: She rolled 714 at the state tournament after shooting 514 in District 7. She tied for high average in the SAC with Baksa at 180, including a 224 high game.

Madison Bailey Timber Creek, So. Buzz:

Repeat All-Area bowler rolled

815 series and finished 7th in the state tournament. She averaged 189 and shot 520 in the District 9 tournament. High game was 259.

Frances Baksa

Lake Mary, Jr.

Buzz: Another second-time Sentinel All-Area player, she averaged 180 in the regular season and shot 623 as the District 7 runner-up. Bowled 792 at state tourney for 19th place.

Emma Bastian

Winter Park, So.

Buzz: She rolled 818 at state final qualifying and finished 12th. Was third in District 9 at 590. Bastian averaged 190 in the regular season with a 247 game and 627 series.

Gianna Bringham Circle Christian, Jr. Buzz:

State tourney veteran averaged 194 in the regular season with a 247 game and 612 series. Shot 672 in the state meet rolling 577 in District 9 (fourth place).

Klaraliese

Timber Creek, Sr.

Buzz: She made the cut for state tourney match play with a monster 280 game to cap an 869 series. She placed 16th. Averaged 176 in the regular season. Shot 577 in District 9.

Carlie Kammerzell Kayton

DeLand, Fr.

Buzz: She rolled 809 in state meet qualifying to tie for the 16th and final slot before losing in a rolloff. Ninth-grader averaged 181 with a 247 game in the regular season.

Emily Rusnak East River, Jr. Buzz:

She joined Lang in the 200-plus club, averaging 204 in the regular season with a 258 high game. Rusnak rolled 764 at state finals after a 612 District 9 runner-up in series.

Camdyn Nielsen East River, Fr. Buzz:

She rolled 754 at state finals for 34th place after winning District 9 with a 647 series. Nielsen averaged 193 in the regular season with a 246 high game.

Alisyn Sprague DeLand, Sr. Buzz:

She rolled 724 at the state tournament but was clutch in Baker System team play, where she delivered multiple crucial strikes. Averaged 178 with a 258 game.
