Catherine (Catie) Peet Cook, a resident of Westminist­er Towers, passed away on January 31, 2023- just two days shy of her 101st birthday. Catie was born in Indianapol­is, Indiana on February 2, 1922 to George H. and Vera Johnson Peet. While attending DePauw University she joined Delta Delta Delta sorority. She majored in Home Economics, graduating in 1943. She later earned her Dietetics degree from Indiana University. In a chemistry lab at DePauw she met the love of her life, Tom Cook. They were married in 1944. After Tom’s medical school, Army service, internship­s, and residencie­s they moved to Orlando in 1953.

Catie is survived by two children, George Cook (Ginny) and Jan Beemer (Britt who recently passed). Tom and Catie have four grandchild­ren; Dan Cook of Charleston, SC, Julie Nobles (Trent) of Midlothian, VA, Chloe Fitzgerald (Jonathan) of Los Angeles, CA, and Claire Beemer of Orlando. They have two great-grandchild­ren; Dakin and Maddox Nobles of Midlothian, VA. Mickey Cook, her sister-in-law, was extremely loved and important in her life as was her niece Suzy Osborne (Mike). Catie was loved for her wit and her warmth and her uncanny ability to beat anyone at Trivial Pursuit. She was active in the Orange County Medical Auxiliary, the Orange County Artist Guild, the Florida Genealogy Society, and the Tri Delta Alumna Alliance. She was also an accomplish­ed artist of many medias. Catie studied and painted under Hal McIntosh’s tutelage which she considered a life-changing honor. Tom and Catie loved to travel and started a wonderful tradition of traveling each summer with family. She played in several bridge clubs, loved her book club, and Bible Study. Throughout her life Catie was interested in everything and everyone. Though Tom passed away on December 5, 2020, their wishes were to celebrate their lives together. The celebratio­n will be on March 13, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Reformatio­n Chapel of First Presbyteri­an Church at 106 E. Church St. Orlando.
