Family Wellness
There is a difference between health and wellness. Health is a state of being; a physical body being free from diseases. Some of ways to be healthy include exercise, nutrition, maintaining blood pressure, reducing body fat and getting enough sleep. Wellness is the state of living a healthy lifestyle by striving to achieve balance throughout your life. It’s a persistent effort to tune-up your physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, environmental, and occupational well-being. It includes health, but is so much more than that. It’s acknowledging weaknesses in each area, and doing something about it. It’s a constant work in progress with no destination point to reach. Yet, a balance we try to maintain for the goodness of our well-being. What’s the opposite of bad? What’s the opposite of half empty? I believe it’s the active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence. It’s important to achieve optimal wellness in order to subdue stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions.
