Orlando tree-lighting, festival set for Friday
The annual lighting of Orlando’s Christmas tree is coming up Friday at 6:15 p.m. at Lake Eola Park. A free festival called Holiday Lights Orlando will begin at 4 p.m., featuring Trinity DowntownEvangelical Lutheran Church and School’s100-voice Christmas show, “The Gift.” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will light the tree.
There also will be a lighting of a menorah, food and an outdoor viewing at the Walt Disney World Ampitheater of the movie “Elf,’’ starring Will Ferrell.
The tree, a 30-foot Norwegian Spruce, came from Sugar Mountain Nursery in North Carolina.
