Teen star sorry for dissing ‘Men’
After raising eyebrows across Hollywood and elsewhere, “Two and a Half Men” teen actor Angus T. Jones issued a statement apologizing to CBS and Warner Bros. for comments in a YouTube video (prompted by his Christian beliefs) that included calling the TV comedy “filth” and appealing to viewers to stop watching.
“I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on ‘Two and a Half Men’ with whom I have worked and over the past 10 years who have become an extension of my family,” Jones said. “I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.” Those blessings include a contract that reportedly pays more than $350,000 per episode.
Charlie Sheen, whose exit from the TV comedy was prompted by a spate of bizarre rantings and Internet monologues, had his own views on Jones’ com- ments. “With Angus’ HaleBopp-like meltdown, it is radically clear to me that the show is cursed,” Sheen told TMZ. He then pointed blame at “Men” co-creator Chuck Lorre, with whom he had a bitter falling-out two years ago: “I dare Affleck entertainer of the year: Entertainment Weekly has announced its entertainers of the year, and Ben Affleck tops the list. The “Argo” star and director also got A-list approval from the film’s producer, George Clooney. “Hollywood loves a comeback, and he’s an unbelievable comeback kid,” Clooney told EW. anyone to spend10 years in the laugh track that is Chuck Lorre’s hive of oppression and not suffer some form of an emotional tsunami.”
