Manziel recalls UF’S stout defense
GAINESVILLE — Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has had a dream season in college football.
He led the No. 9 Aggies to a 10-2 regular-season record, earned the nickname “Johnny Football” and is the frontrunner in the Heisman Trophy race.

UF’s defense hounded Manziel during a 20-17 victory Sept. 8 at Kyle Field.
“Florida’s defense this year is definitely one of the top defenses we played — without a doubt,” Manziel said. “They’re extremely quick.”
TheGators limited Manziel to 233 yards andonetouchdown. UF stifled the Aggies, who rank fourth nationally with 44.8 points scored per game. Texas A&Mscored only 17 points and couldn’t respond when UF rallied for a comeback win.
“They really shut us down there in the second half,” Manziel said.
Manziel passed for just 69 yards on nine attempts during the second half.
After facing Alabama and LSU, Manziel said UF’s ability to take away options in the passing game stands out.
“They did a really good job of staying with our receivers,” Manziel said. “Even when we did get out and scramble, their linebackers had really unique speed.”
