Injury bug bites ailing Gators again

-

GAINESVILLE— Gators LTD. J. Humphriessprained the MCL in his left knee during Monday’s practice and will miss two to four weeks, coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday.

Humphries, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound sophomore, started the season’s first six games, but he was replaced in the starting lineup during Florida’s Oct. 19 visit to Missouri following a poor performance a week earlier at LSU.

Nebraska transfer Tyler Moore, who has struggled this season, will move from right tackle to left tackle to replace Humphries. Junior-college transfer Trenton Brown, who stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 361 pounds, will make his first college start at right tackle during Saturday’s matchup with Georgia.

Recent offensive line woes have led coaches to shuffle the lineup and simplify the playbook. The Gators scored one offensive touchdown and compiled just 391 yards during losses at LSU and Missouri.

QB Tyler Murphy has been sacked 10 times and hurried 13 times in those games.

“We need to protect better than we have, that’s for sure,” Muschamp said.

SF Devin Robinson, a five-star recruit from Virginia, announced his commitment to the Gators on Wednesday.

Robinson averaged 18.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and more than two blocks the past two seasons.

Gators SG Michael Frazier has been diagnosed with mononucleosis, the school announced.
