Caracas to honor Chavez on anniversary of death
CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela geared up on Tuesday for commemorations of socialist leader Hugo Chavez’s death, despite protests against his successor that have shaken the country and threatened Chavez’s legacy.
President Nicolas Maduro’s government was making lavish plans to honor Chavez on Wednesday’s anniversary of his death from cancer. The president is to preside over a military parade Wednesday in Caracas, as well as other events.
