‘Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley’
WHAT: Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s Children’s Series gets underway with “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley,” which opens Saturday. The show is based on the popular children’s books written by Jeff Brown and illustrated by Scott Nash.
If you’re unfamiliar with the series, the back story is that little Stanley Lambchop makes a wish to be flat as a pancake — and his wish is granted. In his two-dimensional form, he travels the globe and learns that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.
Theatergoers can get in on the action ahead of time by printing out a 2-D Flat Stanley at Orlando Shakes.com. Then, take Stanley on a trip, pose for a photo with him and share in the Shakes’ Flat Stanley photo gallery on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (look for @OrlandoShakes or #OrlandoShakes).
The cast for the Orlando Shakes’ production includes Michael Sheehy in the title role, pictured center with Sarah Caroline Billings and John DeLisa. Ryan M. Skiles and Melissa Mason round out the cast. Rob Winn Anderson is director/choreographer of the show, written by Timothy A. McDonald. WHERE: Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E.
