Movie violence disturbing
I found the Super Bowl ads generally good, not necessarily funny but to the point. However, other ads (aside from the Super Bowl ads) for movies full of gratuitous violence I found appalling.
And society wonders how some young person could go out and kill another without thinking or having remorse. God save us from the movie industry.
Dems need new leader
The article “Florida Democrats review dismal year, plan for future” in Sunday’s Sentinel told of the Democratic Party leadership deciding that the primary cause of their loss in 2014 was lack of money. That is because they don’t ask for it.
I have lived at the same address for 36 years, and the only solicitation from Florida’s Democrats was from U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her own re-election in 2014. I am not even in her district.
They also complained about not getting out the vote. The only pleas I saw were TV ads, most of which were downgrading Gov. Rick Scott. Nothing encouraging me to support the Democratic candidates came in the mail, as I recall.
Perhaps the solution is to change the leadership, moving the center of activity to South Florida, which seems more friendly to Democrats than the Central Florida Republican-dominated area. Maybe recruit former state Sen. Nan Rich as chairman and let her select the active staff.
Keep crossing guards safe
I agree with legislation to increase penalties for people who don’t stop for a school bus. I would like to see an amendment that would include cars that run through an intersection when the school crossing guards are out with their stop signs. I see this happening too frequently.
Cursing bad, killing OK?
What shocks me is that Monday letterwriter Diane Panacek, who is disturbed by the thought of exposing her grandkids to the foul language of “American Sniper,” is OK with them seeing people being shot and killed. Something is wrong with that thought process.
