The manhunt continued Thursday for the shooter who killed a 22-year-old man at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida on Wednesday.

Colin Marcel Jackson was identified Thursday as the man found dead inside an apartment at Campus Crossing Alafaya about 6:30 p.m., officials said.

“Witnesses reported seeing the victim and an unknown black male involved in an altercation prior to hearing the shots,” said Lourdes Clayton, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson was not a UCF student, and it’s unclear whether he lived in the complex, officials said. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Jackson’s criminal history includes a Dec. 30 arrest at same apartment complex on the following charges: aggravated assault with a firearm, armed burglary of dwelling with a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft.

According to one of the victims, who lived at Campus Crossing Alafaya, Jackson and an accomplice tried to “stick him up” for the gold chain he was wearing around his neck Dec. 29, an arrest report said. The next day, Jackson and his accomplice returned. Jackson pulled a handgun from his pocket as the victim came outside the apartment to take his girlfriend to work.

The couple drove away from the area and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived and stopped Jackson and his accomplice. When Orange County deputies handcuffed Jackson, they found a silver .22-caliber pistol in his right front pocket, a small scale used to measure marijuana in his left front pocket and another firearm and stolen items inside his vehicle.

During a search of the car Jackson was in, deputies found a Glock .40-caliber handgun, two purses, a gold chain and a Gucci gold belt, which all belonged to the victim and his girlfriend, records show.
