Indians fall short of combined no-no

-

Bolstered by a strong effort by starter Trevor Bauer, the Indians carried a combined no-hitter into the ninth inning against the host Astros before settling for a onehitter in a 5-1 victory Thursday afternoon.

Jed Lowrie broke up the nohit bid with a one-out home run in the ninth inning off Nick Hagadone, the last of three Indians relievers.

Bauer was pulled after throwing 111 pitches through six innings. He struck out a careerhigh 11 and walked five.

Relievers Kyle Crockett and Scott Atchison each pitched a scoreless inning before Hagadone took over.

Hagadone struck out Chris Carter to begin the ninth. Lowrie then sent a 94 mph fastball far over the left-center-field wall.
