UCF faculty art show

-

WHAT: The art of 23 faculty members in UCF’s School of Visual Arts & Design is on view at the university east of Orlando.

“Our annual faculty exhibition reveals an exciting mix of art produced by our outstanding faculty during the past year. Their personal art-making takes place evenings, weekends and holidays — free time is rare at UCF during ‘business’ hours,’” says gallery director Yulia Tikhonova. “Every year this exhibition presents a vigorous exploration of painting, photography and installation, whose subjects are as diverse as the Florida landscape, cultural identity and critical views of popular culture.”

The participating artists come from the school’s three divisions: fine art, digital media and film. Some, such as Brooks Dierdorff, Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz and Chuleta Yoprimero, were recently hired. On the flip side, Robert Rivers and Rob Reedy have taught at the University of Central Florida since the program’s start.

Others in the show are: Patricia Lois Nuss, Laine Wyatt, Hadi Abbas, Scott F. Hall, Walter Gaudnek, Joo Kim, Justin Nolan, Bob Hoeckstra, Chad Cameron, Kevin Haran, Jason Burrell, Molly Reilly, George Donald, Carla Poindexter, Kate Shults, Chuck Abraham, Keith Kovach, Victor Davila and Debi Starr, whose “Cinzia and James,” an acrylic on canvas, is pictured.

WHERE: University of Central Florida’s Visual Arts Building, 12400 Aquarius Agora Drive, Orlando WHEN: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Oct. 30 COST: Free ONLINE: gallery.cah.ucf.edu
