Twelve Republican
presidential hopefuls are scheduled to speak in Orlando in mid-November.
Twelve Republican presidential candidates – all the major contenders except for Dr. Ben Carson – have been scheduled to speak in Orlando at the Republican Party’s Sunshine Summit in mid-November.
New York businessman Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush all will speak on Nov. 13, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel, according to the schedule released Thursday by the party.
Carson, second to Trump in most polls and leading in recent polls in the Iowa GOP caucuses, has not yet agreed to appear and is not scheduled. But he has not declined either, according to the RPOF.
Rubio is set to lead off the presidential candidates’ speeches, allowing him to set the bar and receive the early attention.
But it also puts Rubio at risk of being overshadowed in a news cycle that will have Bush and current GOP front-runner Trump deliver late-afternoon addresses.
On Nov. 12, the Sunshine Summit will open at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort with a keynote dinner address by former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Rubio will speak at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, followed by U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 12:30 p.m.; U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina at 1; former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas at 2; Bush at 4; and Trump at 5:30.
On Nov. 14, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania will speak at 11 a.m., followed by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal at 1 p.m.; U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky at 1:30; New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 2; Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 2:30; and businesswoman Carly Fiorina of California at 4.
The Sunshine Summit also will feature speeches from Florida’s GOP U.S. Senate candidates and other elected officials. Tickets to the event are available through the RPOF.
