WHAT: The Council of 101, which supports Orlando Museum of Art, will open its 34th annual Antiques Vintage and Garden Show at the museum next Friday, Feb. 19. But if you want a sneak peek, check out the preview party, from 6:30-10 p.m. Thursday ($95, which includes valet parking).
The show runs through Feb. 21 and will showcase collectibles, original art, fine jewelry, silver, porcelains, ceramics, textiles, florals and furniture, as well home and garden décor. Dealers from around the nation will share expert tips and knowledge.
This year’s guest speaker is India Hicks (pictured), an internationally known author, model and TV personality who has her own lifestyle brand. (Trivia: London-born Hicks is also goddaughter to Britain’s Prince Charles and was in the wedding party for his marriage to Diana Spencer.) Hicks will speak at 11 a.m. Feb. 19 and sign her books “Island Style” and “Island Life.” Tickets are $45 and include admission to the rest of the show. (A $125 VIP experience, which includes shopping with Hicks, is also available.)
From 1-3 p.m. each day, visitors can have their heirlooms appraised by experts. Reservations are required and can be made beginning at noon. It costs $10 to have an item appraised, with a limit of two per day per attendee.
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 20, a mystery-home tour will be offered. Ticket holders will visit an interestingly decorated home to spur their creativity. Tickets are $35 per person, which includes show admission.
