Cops: Men face kidnapping, armed robbery charges

- By Gal Tziperman Lotan Staff Writer

Altamonte Springs police arrested two of four people accused in a robbery that led to a car chase and ended with a gun crashing through a driver’s back windshield on Interstate 4 earlier this week.

Tyron Miller, 20, and Rafael Caballero, 21, face charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. They are being held on no bond at the John E. Polk Correctional facility in Seminole County. Police did not describe the other two men they are seeking.

The incident began Wednesday afternoon, when a man walking near the Altamonte Mall saw a car with four men inside, records show. One of them motioned him over to the car.

When the man got close enough, Caballero allegedly grabbed him and pulled him into the car, police said. Another man in the back seat held an old-looking rusty revolver to the man’s head and demanded his wallet, shoes, cell phone and ear- rings, police said.

Caballero threw the victim out of the car about three minutes later, police said. The four men then drove away, and the victim called law enforcement.

Soon, a Seminole County deputy saw a car that matched the victim’s description going east on Interstate 4, police said. As the deputy followed the car, someone inside allegedly threw a gun out of the window, police said. The gun flew into the back windshield of a passing car, police said. The passing driver pulled over right away to call 911 and saw a black revolver had landed in his back seat, police said. He was not injured.

Law enforcement officials found the suspects’ car after it crashed off Lake Mary Boulevard, police said. All four people inside ran away. Police later found and arrested Miller and Caballero. Caballero denied robbing anyone and told police they had the wrong person, records show.
