Rickie Fowler’s rough day puts him in catch-up mode,

PALM BEACH GARDENS — At some point, the good fortune had to run out.

Things were just going too well for Rickie Fowler in the Honda Classic. After playing two days of bogeyfree golf, his fortunes turned.

A day after leading the tournament, Fowler fell into a tie for fourth place after shooting a 4-over par 74 Saturday at PGA National Resort & Spa. He enters today ’s final round five strokes behind co-leaders

Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott.

“I had a couple bad breaks, but that was going to happen,” Fowler said. “I had some good breaks the first couple of days. I was still swinging all right. I made a couple bad swings, but I just couldn’t get the right reads. I struggled on the greens.”

Fowler, who lives in Jupiter, began to struggle once he picked up his first bogey of the tournament on the third hole. He then bogeyed two of the next six, and failed to score under par throughout the round. Never was he able to regain any of the momentum from the last two days.

“All in all, with it being as bad as it was, I definitely didn’t play as bad I scored,” Fowler said. “I’m not out of it.”

With a three-round score of 206, Fowler will have to catch four players who have yet to shoot over par during the week. Garcia grabbed the lead from Scott after a disastrous 15th hole. Scott was 7-under before a quadruple-bogey that featured two water drops.

For Fowler, he is just content on remaining in the hunt. The same could not be said for Jimmy Walker, who entered as No. 2 on the leaderboard. Walker shot 9-over par, falling into 32nd place. Bohn improves

Jason Bohn, who had a mild heart attack after Friday’s round, remained in stable condition.

After the original diagnosis, Bohn underwent further testing Saturday at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

“Jason is resting comfortable and in good spirits,” said Bohn’s agent, Justin Richmond. “We know he appreciates the concern from so many people in the PGA Tour family who have reached out.”
