Health inspections
A Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant and an Orlando neighborhood Italian eatery were shut down by restaurant inspectors this month for roaches, dirt, debris and unsafe food conditions.
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation temporarily shut down the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant at 14807 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando on Feb. 16 after inspectors found evidence of roaches and “tortillas chips in box above reach in freezer in cook line area with live roaches inside” and “ice inside ice machine with dead roaches inside,” the report said.
There were also rodent droppings in the freezer and throughout the kitchen.
It took two days and four inspections before the restaurant reopened on Feb. 18. On those follow-up inspections the following day inspectors continued to
find roaches throughout the facility. They counted more than 85 during the follow-up visits.
The Italian House at 1400 Crystal Lake Drive also lost business for a day on Feb. 8 when inspectors shut down the facility after finding roaches, food debris and employees handling food improperly. It reopened the following day.
RanGetsu closing
Maitland’s RanGetsu
Japanese Restaurant and Bar is closing after nearly three decades in Central Florida.
Owners sent an email and posted on social media that the eatery’s last day of business would be Saturday, March 5. They did not give a reason for the closing.
“We thank you for the years of support and invite everyone in for one last taste of Japan,” the Facebook post said.
It is located at 901 S. Orlando Ave.
RanGetsu was a popular International Drive Japanese-food destination for 25 years until it closed in 2010, only to resurface a year later in Maitland.
