Army sergeant charged in killing of cop, wife

An Army staff sergeant stationed at the Pentagon will likely face the death penalty on charges that include capital murder of a police officer, officials said Sunday in Prince William County, Va.

Ronald Hamilton, 32, is charged in the fatal shooting Saturday of Officer Ashley Guindon, 28, on her first day on the job and the wounding of two policemen. Police said his wife, Crystal Hamilton, 29, called 911, but he killed her before officers arrived. Their son, 11, fled as the couple argued and was not hurt, police said.
