Bicyclist hit by car in Brevard dies Sunday

A man riding a bicycle along U.S. Route 1 in Brevard County died after moving into the path of a car Sunday afternoon, troopers say. The man, whose name and age will not be released until next of kin is notified, was headed south near Ansin Road when the incident occurred at about 2 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol. Spokeswoman Kim Montes said that the bicyclist was struck by a car after moving from the right shoulder of the southbound lane, into the left lane. The bicyclist crossed directly into the path of 49-year-old Marshall Pratt of Rockledge who was driving a Nissan in the left lane, Montes said.
