Armstrong wins at Relays

A week after turning in two career-best performanc­es in distance races at the FSU Relays, Lyman senior Jordan Armstrong took his form up yet another notch on Friday night.

The Air Force recruit lowered his metric mile personal record to four minutes, 14.86 seconds to win the boys invitation­al 1,600-meter run at the Florida Relays in Gainesvill­e.

Freedom’s Timothy Doyle finished fourth at 4:16.28 — running one of the top times in Central Florida history for a sophomore.

wards won the boys discus with a careerbest throw of 173-feet, 7-inches.

Domonique Turner, Kissimmee Osceola’s versatile senior, placed second in the girls 100-meter hurdles in a time of 13.88 seconds that sits just outside the national top 10. Chanel Brissett of Pennsylvan­ia broke the Relays record and won with a U.S. No. 1 mark of 13.09.

Dr. Phillips’ senior Alvin Bryant Jr. ran his personal-best time of 10.48 to place third in a blazing fast 100-meter dash. Auburndale’s Chauncy Smart won with a windaided 10. 30 time that leads the nation.

A day after winning the long jump, Seminole’s Emanuel Foster placed third in the triple jump. .

Dr. Phillips ran 41.57 as the second fastest qualifier for Saturday’s boys 4x100 relay final. Seminole, the area leader with a 41.52 time, did not run.
