Dockery’s 100,000 lazy new voters

-

I couldn’t disagree more with Paula Dockery’s “100,000 new voters when judge rebukes Scott’s poppycock.”

Where are the consequences for voter-registration procrastination? We are no longer the home of the brave and land of the free. We have become the land of the enabler and home of the affronted.

Too many Americans think that registering to vote is no more important than going to the grocery store, buying a Lotto ticket, or watching a football game. The latter you can do any time — not so for a presidential election. An election occurs every four years. Yet 100,000 Floridians waited until the very last minute to register. Inexcusable. They had 48 months to do this. Online registration is available as well: Print the form, fill it out, and send it to your supervisor of elections.

Is that asking too much? I think not, Ms. Dockery. It’s a matter of personal priorities. No more red-herring excuses. Ray Palmer Ocoee
