Two ruff and ready players

New England won the Super Bowl, and Central Florida dominated the Puppy Bowl. Two players from Florida Little Dog Rescue in St. Cloud earned MVP — Most Valuable Puppy — honors in the Sunday event on Animal Planet. Viewers around the world selected winners in three separate airings.

Rory, a 4-month-old poodle mix, won MVP honors in the first and second showings. Nikita, a cocker spaniel-bichon frise mix, was named MVP for the third viewing.

Florida Little Dog Rescue placed 12 dogs, the most from a single rescue, in Puppy Bowl XIII. The players were rescued from local county animal shelters, puppy mills or neglect cases.

Local competes on ‘Drag Race’

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” has unveiled the cast for season nine, and Trinity Taylor of Orlando will compete.

In a taped interview with Logo, Trinity say she’s 31 and originally from Birmingham, Ala. She said she liked Trinity from the “Matrix” movies.

Logo didn’t announce a premiere date for the Emmy-winning contest. The show carries a $100,000 cash prize and the title America’s Next Drag Superstar. Trinity will compete against 12 other hopefuls.

Ken Tyndall returns to WFTV

Ken Tyndall is leaving radio station News 96.5 WDBO to be a full-time reporter at WFTV-Channel 9, where he has worked twice before. (Both WDBO and WFTV are owned by Cox Media Group.)

“Ken is an experience­d journalist who is plugged into what’s happening in the market every day,” said Matt Parcell, WFTV news director. He praised Tyndall’s “deep understand­ing of both local and national issues.”

Tyndall starts at WFTV on Feb. 13. He first worked at the ABC affiliate in 1982. He began as weekend anchor/ reporter and later anchored the morning and noon newscasts. The first time around, he spent 14 years at the station.

He joined WDBO in 2010, but started working part time at WFTV in 2011 as a reporter. Then he anchored Saturday evenings at WFTV for a couple of years through last year, while still working full time at WDBO.

Mandy Moore voices Rapunzel

“Tangled,” the 2010 Disney animated film, will become a Disney Channel series, and Orlando’s Mandy Moore will return to give voice to Rapunzel.

The story will be set between “Tangled” and the short film “Tangled Ever After.” The plot resumes with “Tangled Before Ever After,” a Disney Channel Original Movie debuting at 8 p.m. March 10. “Tangled: The Series” starts at 7:30 p.m. March 24.

Moore is enjoying the greatest success of her career as Rebecca on NBC’s “This Is Us.” Joining her on “Tangled” will be original co-star Zachary Levi as Eugene (formerly known as Flynn Rider).
