Orlando keeps rolling as offense carries night

Chase Witala and Alex Gacek scored twice apiece as the Orlando Solar Bears defeated the Atlanta Gladiators 8-5 on Tuesday night.

The ECHL game drew an announced crowd of 2,319 at Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth, Ga.

Shane Conacher’s goal 4 minutes, 30 seconds into the third period snapped a 5-all tie and lifted the Solar Bears (24-15-5-2, 55 points). Gacek and Darik Angeli scored into an empty net in the final minute against the Gladiators (17-22-6-1, 41 points).

The Solar Bears, who led 4-3 entering the final period, extended their points streak to five games. Alexandre Carrier and Joe Perry also scored for Orlando.

For the second consecutiv­e game, the Solar Bears had a player with four assists. It was Milos Bubela on Tuesday night. Ben Danford produced four assists Saturday night as the Solar Bears beat the Greenville Swamp Rabbits 6-3 at Amway Center.

Kasimir Kaskisuo saved 29 shots for the Solar Bears.

The Solar Bears will continue their five-game road trip against the Swamp Rabbits at 7 Friday night.

On Tuesday, the Solar Bears announced they will team with the Florida Bar Entertainm­ent, Arts & Sports Law Section (EASL) to stage Legal Night on Thursday, Feb. 16. The panel, consisting of keynote speaker Gordon Kirke and Solar Bears executives Joe Haleski and Chris Heller, is set to begin at 4:15 p.m.

Preregistr­ation runs through Sunday and will cost $75 for EASL members, $99 for non-members. On-site registrati­on will cost $10 more.

The Solar Bears will host the Norfolk Admirals at 7 that night.
