■ BASEBALL: The Yankees and 1B Chris Carter agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract, the 30-year-old slugger confirmed to The Associated Press. The deal is pending a physical. Carter tied for the NL lead in HRs (41), hitting .222 with 94 RBIs in 160 games last season for the Brewers . ... The Rangers and 1B/DH Mike Napoli agreed to a one-year deal, according to reports. The deal is pending a physical. Financial terms weren’t available. Napoli, 35, set career highs in HRs (34) and RBIs (101) and strikeouts (194) last season with the Indians. He played for the Rangers in 2011 and 2012 and again in 2015 . ... The A’s announced that they will name the playing surface at Oakland Coliseum in honor of Hall of Fame OF Rickey Henderson. The team called Henderson “the greatest Athletic of all time.” Henderson, 58, who grew up in Oakland, played 1,704 of his 2,540 career games in five stints with the A’s and is the team’s all-time leader in runs (1,270), walks (1,227) and stolen bases (867). The ceremony will take place before the April 3 opener.

■ COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Army announced that it suspended defensive coordinato­r

Jay Bateman for two weeks and fined him $25,000 for his role in accepting leaked informatio­n from former Wake Forest assistant coach and radio announcer Tommy Elrod. Army said it was tipped off to gameplan informatio­n by Elrod, who reportedly had been leaking game documents to opponents since 2014 . ... Oregon announced that new co-offensive coordinato­r and TEs coach David Reaves resigned because of his January arrest for DUI . ... Baylor fired new assistant strength coach Brandon Washington after he was arrested in a Waco (Texas) prostituti­on sting.

■ NFL: The Falcons hired Steve Sarkisian as their offensive coordinato­r. Sarkisian, 42, had been named Alabama offensive coordinato­r just ahead of the team’s national title game loss to Clemson last month. He had previously served as head coach at USC and Washington and had a brief stint in the NFL as the Raiders quarterbac­ks coach in 2004. Sarkisian replaces Kyle Shanahan, who was hired as 49ers head coach Monday . ... The Browns released QB Josh McCown and DB Tramon Williams. McCown, 37, had 18 TDs and 10 INTs in 13 games over two seasons. Williams, 33, had 105 tackles and two INTs in 27 games over two seasons . ... The Packers released RB James Stark, 30, after seven seasons.

■ SOCCER: Barcelona earned a fourth straight Copa del Rey final berth after securing a 3-2 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid with a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou. Luis

Suarez, who scored two goals in the semifinal round, received two yellow cards in the second leg and is suspended for the final. The team likely will appeal. ■ ALSO: Olympic champ Anna Veith of Austria and Lindsey Vonn didn’t finish the super-G at the world ski championsh­ips in St. Moritz, Switzerlan­d. Nicole Schmidhofe­r of Austria won the title with her first career victory . ... Roger Walkowiak, who won the 1956 Tour de France, died in a hospital near Vichy, France. At 89, he had been the oldest living Tour winner.
