UCF student says she was raped

- By Christal Hayes

Police at the University of Central Florida are investigating after a student reported she was raped after a fraternity party earlier this year.

The victim told police she was at a party at the off-campus Sigma Pi fraternity house on Darwin Drive in late January, an incident report said.

She and a friend had been drinking, so she called another friend to pick them up from the party. While waiting, a member of the fraternity whom she knew approached them, police said.

The fraternity member’s name was redacted from the police report.

He helped get her friend into the car when their ride got there, then went back to their apartment with them, records show.

The victim told police the suspect was supposed to sleep in the bathroom in her apartment, but as she was sleeping, the suspect got into bed with her, authorities said.

She asked what he was doing and told him to stop, but he said, “Just go with it,” a police report states.

That’s when he took off his pants and raped her, an incident report said.

She told him no repeatedly and tried to get him to stop, but at some point she may have blacked out, police said.

Authorities said the suspect left her apartment shortly after the incident.

She told police she had four drinks at the party. She said she was unsure if someone slipped a drug of some kind into one of her drinks, the report said.

After the incident, the victim called UCF Victim Services’ 24-hour hotline. She also called her parents, who helped her find a testing center where she was examined and handed over evidence, a police report states.

The suspect has not been charged, but UCF police are still investigating, spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin said.
