Don’t feel bad for Valerie David. She has beaten cancer — twice over, in fact. In “The Pink Hulk: One Woman’s Journey to Find the Superhero Within,” the New Yorker shares her experiences combating the Big C in energetic and refreshingly frank style.

How energetic? Not used to the small performance space of the Fringe’s Purple venue, at a preview she repeatedly knocked over her own props and at one point accidentally stepped off the stage. But nothing keeps her down for long, as her show engagingly proves.

First, she conquered lymphoma, than 15 years later was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Fringe veterans have likely heard this kind of overcoming-a-hugeobstacle-and-learningabout-your-own-strength story before. But David’s willingness to tackle the most intimate issues — how breast cancer affects a young woman’s relationship with sex — sets this one apart. The Fringe Factor:

The sex talk is the best part of this show — both real and surprisingly funny. The details are comical: She tries a conference call with friends in pursuit of one last sexual hookup before her latest treatment starts.

Curtain Call: A few sections of David’s odyssey could be tightened further, but there’s no doubt that when she sets out to complete a bike marathon, she’s going to triumphantly cross that finish line.

Where & When: Pink venue, 60 minutes, $12, 18 and up. 5:15 p.m. May 20; 7:15 p.m. May 24; 12:45 p.m. May 27; 5:45 p.m. May 28.
