Sermanni says Orlando not recruiting KC’s Leroux

-

With move to Orlando City completed, the attention now turns to his wife and FC Kansas City player

Leroux joined Kansas City in 2016 to be closer to Dwyer and start a family. With Dwyer joining Orlando, the links between Leroux and the Orlando Pride have ramped up.

However, the rumors are currently just that — rumors.

“I'm happy to say on the record that the situation with Syd Leroux is exactly the same as it was before Dom Dwyer was on the radar here,” coach

said. “So it's two completely separate entities. And at this moment and time, Syd is a Kansas City player so it's inappropriate for me to talk about other players from other clubs from coming here.”

Leroux shared thoughts on Twitter.

Hours after Dwyer was introduced, she tweeted from her handle @sydneyleroux: “Fight like hell to get back after having a baby. her Focus on FCKC. Support my husband from afar. Be a bad ass mom.”

Her initial inclination is to stay with Kansas City. But a potential move to Orlando would create a fearsome attacking front. Leroux would join and

to arguably have the best trio of attackers in the NWSL.

With seven players away for the Tournament of Nations, the Pride are shorthanded in training. Marta,

and Morgan have all been called up to their national teams. Even with a smaller group, Orlando is not taking training lightly.

“It's a great opportunity for us to work on things that we don't usually get to work on midweek,” midfielder

said. “We can kind of tax our bodies a little bit more because we don't have a game at the end of the week. It's weird not having the whole team here, but definitely still have an opportunity to still grow.”

Sermanni said there are pros and cons of having a smaller squad. It’s easier to have individual training sessions and increase the workload of the team. The drawback is not being able to have a full scrimmage.

is continuing her recovery from a quadriceps injury near her hip suffered on May 21.

Harris brought in a specialist to do extra work in training. Sermanni said the only activity she has had difficulty with is kicking balls off the ground. He hopes to have her on the pitch soon.

“It's interesting, this break has given her a good chance to actually to work at stuff that you can't do when you're playing games week in and week out,” Sermanni said. “She's getting back to good health, but she's also in great shape fitness wise.”
